Nutmeg’s health benefits are amazing. But it’s more popular for its commercial use.

Nutmeg is a ground spice that is commercially used as a source of essential oils and nutmeg butter.

Here is my list of the health benefits of nutmeg. These are some of the health benefits I’ve read and collected online.

It contains cyanidins, phenylpropanoids, caffeic acid, ferulic acid, and protocatechuic acid.

Test-tube studies have shown that nutmeg’s antioxidant properties have significant effects against free radicals.

Antioxidants in your body help in preventing cellular damage and protecting you from chronic diseases.

3. Nutmeg Helps Relieve Pain

According to an article in the US National Library of Medicine, nutmeg oil has been seen to have analgesic effects and is a chronic pain reliever.

Another study from the Food and Nutrition Research journal stated that using nutmeg oil has a better effect on inflammatory pain compared to other pain relievers like diclofenac.

This study was conducted on rats.

In the same study, it also shows that nutmeg oil is very effective that it can also alleviate joint swelling as well as mechanical allodynia.
