Turmeric As Health Supplement

Turmeric Health Supplement

Turmeric, also known as Indian Saffron and the golden spice, has been used as an ingredient in flavorful dishes, in particular, Indian food, for some time.

Some cultures around the world have incorporated turmeric into their diet, and have benefitted from its health effects. Other cultures and people not familiar with turmeric are now realizing its health benefits.

So, when you are deciding whether you want to use turmeric as a health supplement consider the following turmeric health benefits:

Turmeric As Health Supplement

Relieves Pain

We know people who suffer from chronic joint pain and arthritis. If I had known that they could reduce their pain, and in some cases eliminate it, by ingesting more turmeric, I would have told them.

After all, it has got to be healthier and safer to eat the root of a naturally growing plant, than to take various kinds of medicine to manage the pain.

Improves Your Mood

Curcumin, an active ingredient in turmeric, is known to improve your mood. It is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, and increase the serotonin and dopamine levels of people who eat it.

So, if you are in a funk, depressed, or just can’t find any joy in life, a turmeric supplement might be the answer.

Did you know that turmeric is as effective as Prozac at fighting depression? I didn’t. Given the choice, I prefer turmeric supplements to Prozac – it’s just the better choice for your health and mind, and long-term usage.

Increases Longevity

Turmeric reduces high cholesterol, regulates blood clotting and blood pressure, prevents and repairs damage to the liver, and helps the body to fight off chronic diseases.

If you, like me, are concerned about having good health as you age, then you should add turmeric to your diet. It’s anti-inflammation and anti-oxidant properties help to prevent heart disease and cancer.

It is can also be used to treat cancer and heart disease. I was amazed to learn that turmeric protects the body from pancreatic cancer, prostate cancer, and multiple myeloma.

Another benefit is that turmeric anti-inflammation properties combat low levels of inflammation that lead to the development of many chronic diseases.

I was surprised to see that the laundry list of chronic diseases treated and prevented by turmeric included heart disease, cancer, metabolic syndrome, Alzheimer’s, and other degenerative diseases.

Reduces Obesity

My favorite turmeric property is its fat reduction characteristics. It decreases the number of fat cells created by the body. That means, when you and I eat more calories than we burn, we don’t have to worry as much about gaining weight and increasing our body fat.

Increased Cognitive Abilities

Have you wondered how to delay, if not eliminate, the onset of degenerative brain diseases? Well, a turmeric health benefit is to increase the amount of brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels (BDNF).

If you have higher levels of BDNF, you will have a higher rate of growth of new neurons. In addition, it will help your body and brain to stay healthy by fighting off a myriad of mechanisms that will cause mental decline (e.g., Alzheimer’s Disease).

Healthier Skin

Are interested in healthier, glowing skin? Eat turmeric! Turmeric is used to heal many skin diseases. It improves the overall health of the skin, controls psoriasis flare-ups, and increases the rate at which wounds heal.

If you have acne, like me, then you may want to start taking your turmeric supplements today. Because it is known to decrease acne, reduce scarring from acne, and prevent the clogging of pores (the cause of acne).

Other Uses

I have to share with you that turmeric has many more possible health benefits.

Researchers have indicated that it may be helpful in relieving:

– the pain from burns
– post-operative pain
– neuropathic pain resulting from constriction injury
– dental pain (pain involving the mouth, jaw, and face)
– sciatic nerve pain

I advise you to start incorporating turmeric into your diet. It will benefit your health, body, and mind. When you take turmeric supplements, you are healing and preventing harm to your body. It’s a dietary supplement that will help you live a longer healthier, happier life.
